POLSON — Aaron Jess Spang was arraigned in Justice Court on Nov. 29 at 1:30 p.m. for the alleged stabbing death of 32-year-old Frank Martin He Does It on Nov. 27. Spang, 18, was charged with deliberate homicide in the matter.

The Lake County assistant district attorney asked that no bail be granted due to the seriousness of the offense and to guarantee the safety of the community. The defense did not contest.

When asked by Justice of the Peace Judge Chuck Wall, Spang said he would like a public defender.

Charges stemmed from a 9-1-1 call at 6:41 a.m. on Nov. 27 from Spang’s mother, who said her son was assaulting her boyfriend. There were several other calls from the apartment, including one from He Does It, pleading with the 911 operator to send help. He Does It allegedly said Spang had a knife and was threatening him.

When the officers arrived on the scene, they apprehended Spang coming out the door of the apartment on D Street. Law enforcement found He Does It in the back room, stabbed eight times, according to Russell during Spang’s arraignment hearing. Officers found a 9-inch butcher knife near the body.

Polson Assistant Police Chief John Stevens, Detectives Booth and Dentler, Officers Wright and Maso and Civilian Assistant Kunz, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Law Enforcement officers, Lake County Sheriff’s Detective Dan Yonkin and several LCSO Deputies all responded to the call. Investigation on the case is ongoing.
