Ronan’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner became more of a community affair than ever this year, volunteer coordinator Adina Fuchs said.
Not only did Fuchs have so many people volunteer that she ran out of jobs and had to turn some away, but musical entertainment and better organization made the seventh annual dinner a true holiday event.
“We noticed more this year (that) people came and stayed the whole afternoon,” she said. “It’s just more of a sense of community.”
More than 50 volunteers served 21 turkeys with loads of stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and all the trimmings — not to mention the pies — to between 375 to 400 people. Fuchs said a steady crowd kept the Ronan Community Center full from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We had a lot of good help,” she said, noting that the dinner wouldn’t be possible without dedicated volunteers and donations from community members and local businesses.
Entertainment included the Little Big Band with bluegrass and big band music; Geno Harper with Western ballads; Logan Stephens with classical accordion; and One Room Schoolhouse with contemporary Christian and folk music.
