Editor,
The holidays, whether it is Christmas or Hanukkah, are a time to remember those no longer living. The Ronan High School Student Council is sponsoring their second annual “Remembrance Tree” program to remember our loved ones who have passed on. Trees, filled with lights to commemorate those loved ones, will be on display throughout the holiday season at the Ronan Visitor’s Center on the highway. To include your loved one, please contact student council advisors, Shelly Buhr or Marlena Jensen, at 676-3390, ext. 3506/3521. Student council members will be selling bulbs as well.
To purchase a remembrance, a bulb may be bought from the string of lights for a $5 donation by Friday, Dec. 3. We would also like to display a tree for those serving in the Armed Forces during this holiday time. The same procedure is necessary for that tree. A lighting ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. at the visitor’s center. Each name will be read by a student council member. The tree will be lit from Dec. 5 to New Year’s Day. The community is invited to attend the initial lighting ceremony.
Proceeds from the “Remembrance Tree” project will be used for needy families in the community during the holidays.
