James Robert Allen

POLSON – James Robert Allen, Sr., 49, passed away Oct. 31, 2010 in Polson. Jim was born in Pomona, Calif., to Robert and Faye Allen on March 5, 1961.

Jim moved to the Orchards area of Vancouver, Wash., at age 10 and attended Evergreen Schools. As a boy he enjoyed going to the races with his dad, Bob. A mechanic by trade, Jim owned and operated his own shop in Vancouver. He was also proud to be founder of JAWS racing team.  Many custom Yamaha Banshees and sand drag vehicles remain in Washington and Oregon as reminders of his machinist talents. Jim loved making things go fast; cars, trucks, quads, even boats. It was his lifelong passion. In 2005, he moved to Missoula to work for American Expedition Vehicles as a technician. Recently, Jim enjoyed building engines and working as a crew chief for Jurasek Racing of Polson.

Jim had a quick wit and unique sense of humor. He loved to have fun and always wore a smile. Known as “Bob” or “D” to his friends, he is survived by his sons Robert Allen and James Allen, Jr. of Battleground, Wash., stepson Zach of Vancouver, Wash., his mother Faye Allen, brother Mark Allen and nephews Nick and Luke Allen of Royal Oak, Mich. Jim’s father Robert and sister Joy preceded him in death. Services will be held at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, Wash., Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. A celebration of life will take place at the VFW in Polson, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m.
