POLSON — Jon Lozeau, 22, a suspect in a stabbing investigation, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment hearing on Oct. 27.

An omnibus hearing was set for Dec. 22 at 9 a.m., and a jury trial has been set for Feb. 28, 2011.

Lozeau, who was released on bond and was previously banned from the Gardner Apartments on Main Street in Ronan, was granted admission to the apartments by Judge C.B. McNeil.

He was arrested under allegations that he stabbed John Allen, 18, in an alley behind the Gardner Apartments.

Allen, who was listening to music at the time, didn’t hear the alleged assailant and was caught unaware. Reportedly, he felt a sharp throb and made his way to his grandmother’s house a few blocks away.

He was then transported to St. Luke Community Hospital where he was treated for a minor puncture wound and released shortly thereafter.

Law enforcement officers arrested Lozeau the same night at a residence in the Pache area of Ronan and transported him to the Lake County Jail. They noted that the suspect was intoxicated upon arrest.

Lozeau was later released on bond.

Assistant Chief of Police Art Walgren said the incident is not the first in a string of violent acts between the two men and their relatives.

Walgren said that relatives of Allen believed that Lozeau’s relatives laughed at them during a domestic abuse court appearance between two members of the families who were formerly in relationship.

He also noted that both men have extensive histories with law enforcement agencies.

Lozeau, who drifts between residences in Washington state and Ronan, also claims to be part of a gang. Walgren reported that the particular gang has members in South Dakota, Idaho, Washington and Montana.
