On Tuesday, May 7, voters cast their ballots for irrigation board members, library trustees and a levy, a fire district levy and school board candidates.

Official results of the election from Lake County Election Administration Kathie Newgard indicate the Ronan Library succeeded in passing its bid to become a library district, with 873 votes for and 545 against.

“We are very, very happy and excited for more and better services that we will be able to provide. We really want to thank everybody in the community who supported us,” said. Michelle Fenger, Ronan Library director.

The Ronan Library district will cost the owner of a property valued at $100,000 approximately $39.77 per year while a property valued at $200,000 will cost $79.54 per year.

A seven-year levy to replace the expiring equipment levy in the Polson Rural Fire District passed 945 votes to 381 votes. According to the ballot, it will raise approximately $92,500 per year.

With a maximum of five mills, the levy will amount to $6.02 per year for a property with a market value of $100,000 and $13.84 per year for a property with a market value of $200,000

In a close race for two three-year terms for Charlo School Board trustees, winners were Dave DeGrandpre with 177 votes and Donald Shane Reum with 194 votes.
