CHARLO — The Charlo Vikings “focused on victory” last week, sporting purple and plenty of excitement going into the Lady Vikings’ homecoming volleyball game and the Vikings vs. Prospectors Friday night matchup. And their enthusiasm paid off as the girls swept Arlee in three sets Thursday and the boys crushed Philipsburg 49-0 Friday night.

Students got prepped for the football game with a pep rally and parade through town Friday afternoon, featuring several Halloween-themed floats meant to scare the Prospectors back to Philipsburg.

Organizer LaDonna Fryberger said parade participation was great this year, and kids proved their creativity by going all-out on costumes and float construction. The fifth-graders took first place in the elementary school with their “Christmas Comes Early” float, while the seventh-graders won out in the junior high. The junior class took top honors in the high school.

In the “Doors and Boards” homeroom-decorating contest, the seniors ruled the high school, while seventh-graders took first in the junior high competition.

King Chance Rosenbaum and queen Royelle Esterby were crowned homecoming royalty at halftime Friday.
