This letter is written to inform the public about some important differences between the candidates running for House District 12. Several people are saying that they are so similar, but in truth, they have some very differing views on the issues that should be of concern to people in our district.
John Fleming says that he is fiscally conservative, yet every single Republican in the last State Legislature voted to spend less money than his 46th ranking. You will have to read the fine print on his ads to see it, but John Fleming is a Democrat who appears to be trying to cloak himself in Republican ideals. Dan Salomon is proud to say he is a Republican.
John Fleming lists himself as a farmer and rancher. Dan Salomon is and has been a true farmer and rancher for over 30 years. He is not a “hobby” farmer.
John Fleming is being advertised as being for public education. His livelihood has been receiving a paycheck as a classroom teacher. Dan Salomon has served on the school board for 13 years. He has always been involved in quality education for all students and has never received any compensation for his time.
John Fleming shows hunting as being important to him yet his voting record from the last legislative session earned him a D rating from both the NRA and Montana Shooting Association. Both of these organizations have endorsed Dan Salomon who is truly interested in and will protect your second amendment rights.
Dan Salomon has put the issues in the forefront of his campaign and isn’t afraid to speak to them. John Fleming says he listens, but his voting record reflects differently. I encourage you to vote to send Dan Salomon to Helena; a conservative voice of reason.
