DIXON — Well, we made it into June, and signs of summer are coming up. There’s a noticeable increase in the number of RV’s and the traffic has increased as well. Being located between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks accounts for part of the increased traffic as well as all the graduations and vacations taking place. (That is for some of us, anyway.)

Our center was asked to provide a meal for the traveling “steamers” -members of the Pacific Rail Group Operators. Did you notice some strange-looking railroad cars traveling up the rez rails last week? Those fun-loving groups of seniors are from all over the country. They meet at various locations to use their “cars” just for fun. They made it here in time for our sunny days and were most complimentary and appreciative of being served a delicious meal. Delene Tufly was the “lead cook” with ample assistance from our members. Thanks to all who helped with this.

Jerry Halter had a birthday on June 9 and an anniversary with Karen, on the 23rd.  We sang happy birthday to Roy Tufly right on his June 6 birthday. He also has an anniversary coming up with his wife Delen. Jim Barnes was also glad to pass another year on June 17. Congratulations to you all for keeping it going.

We’re coming on our “brunch for lunch” again this Thursday, June 13. Join us if you can—we don’t get a chance for quiche very often. Meals are still $4 and all ages are welcome. Meal times are Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and noon on Thursdays.

• Thursday, June 13:  quiche; eggs Benedict (new item)

• Monday, June 17: beef stew

• Thursday, June 20:  salmon loaf, mac and cheese

• Monday, June 24:  pork roast

• Thursday, June 27: stir-fry and rice

The pinochle players meet at our center on Monday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. Come join them after dinner.
