ST. IGNATIUS — The Flathead Joint Board of Control met on June 10 for their monthly meeting.

Attorney Jon Metropoulos reported on the two law suits in which the FJBC is involved.

One is a suit filed by the Western Montana Water Users in December against the Flathead, Jock and Mission irrigation districts and the FJBC. That case is in the middle of discovery, Metropoulos said.

On April 16, Ronan attorney Lloyd Ingraham came to a FJBC meeting with a writ signed by District 20 Judge C.B. McNeil preventing the FJBC from voting on whether to adopt or reject the Flathead Indian Irrigation Project water use agreement .

Metropoulos said Ingraham agreed to a stay of all proceedings.

Among other business, the board approved the audit and hired new administrative assistant Johanna Clark.

After much discussion, board members raised Metropoulos’s salary to $150,000 per year.

They also hired St. Ignatius rancher Bill Slack as a consultant. Slack agreed to work for what the commissioner’s do — $100 per day plus mileage.
