POLSON — Monday, June 24 brought the Missoula Pioneers to O’Malley Field to face the Mariners at home. Bats were hot on both sides but the M’s pulled out a 10-8 win in the nine-inning game.

Alex Killian achieved the win, throwing seven innings from the rubber. Killian remained calm on the mound, allowing only two earned runs and notching four strikeouts.

T.J. Olson went 3-4 and knocked in three RBIs. Jeremiah Crawford also had a great day with two RBIs of his own on a homerun.

The Pioneers jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third but the Mariners answered with fury, scoring five runs in the bottom. The Mariners never relinquished the lead after the third.

The Mariners headed down south June 25 for a pair of conference games against the A Missoula Mavs. The weather was being unkind, ending the game after 5 2/3 innings with the M’s falling behind 3-6. Game 2 was canceled as the rain would not let up enough to play.

The top of one saw the Mariners on top 2-0 after Bradley Pichler hit a long double scoring Ryan Pablo and Zeke Webster-Yaqui. The Mavs answered back scoring in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings. The M’s just couldn’t seem to get anyone across home after the 2nd.

Kellen Hoyt pitched five innings before the rain ended it. Hoyt struck out four, allowed one walk and four earned runs.

Game 2 was scheduled to be made up in Missoula on Monday.

The Bucs gave the M’s a run for their money resulting in a split in Wednesday, June 26 in two conference games.

Game 1 ended in a 3-5 loss for the Mariners. Though Nick Crawford gave up only one earned run, errors plagued the Mariners defense allowing the Bucs to take advantage of the bases. Crawford went six innings striking out eight and walking two.

Bransen Krebs logged two of the Mariners five hits going 2-3 on the game. Ryan Pablo clubbed in two RBI’s.

Game 2 saw the battle of all battles with the Mariners winning in the bottom of the 10th with an RBI by Bradley Pichler and a 7-6 score.

Pichler started on the mound shutting down the Bucs with five scoreless innings. The Bucs came back in the 6th and 7th tying it up 6-6. Pichler struck out three, walked two and allowed two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. J.T. Probst came in the sixth and shut out the inning. Probst finished the game with the win, throwing 3 1/3 innings. He allowed no earned runs, struck out two and walked one.

Bransen Krebs showed patients walking three times logging the game tying RBI in the bottom of seven.

The 10th inning showed a rally with the bases loaded by base hits from Zeke Webster-Yaqui and Kellen Hoyt and a walk from Alex Killian sealing the win with Pichler’s RBI. Bradley Pichler went 3-5 for the game.
