ST. IGNATIUS — The Annual St. Ignatius Good Old Days Buffalo Run gets an early start on Saturday, July 20, with a 13.2-mile half marathon starting at 7 a.m., followed by the one, four and seven-mile events all which all begin at 8 a.m. The popular Good Old Days event, which kicks off the Saturday activities in St. Ignatius, is sponsored by St. Luke Community Healthcare.

All of the races will start on Main Street in front of the former Gambles store and will run a mostly flat course in and around the town of St. Ignatius. Runners who have participated in the half-marathon have had high praise for the beautiful scenery along the 13.1-mile route that runs along the base of the Mission Mountains.

This year, trophies will be awarded to the first place finishers, male and female, in all four races. That’s in addition to ribbons for the top three placers, male and female, in each age group.

A $20 day of race entry fee will be accepted until 6:45 a.m. for the half-marathon. The $20 day of race entry fee will be accepted for the other runs between 7 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. The entry fee does include the traditionally popular Buffalo Run T-shirt. There is a $10 day-of-race entry fee for runners who do not want a T-shirt. Participants can save $2 by registering before Tuesday, July 16.

All monies generated by the Buffalo Run are donated by St. Luke to the St. Ignatius Chamber of Commerce. Last year, that total was $2,384.

Entry forms are available at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan and at the St. Luke Community Healthcare Clinic, Rod’s Harvest Foods, The Lake County Bank and Stuart’s Napa Auto Care Center in St. Ignatius. Runners can also download a copy of the Buffalo Run entry forms from the St. Luke website, stlukehealthnet.org
