POLSON — The Mission Valley Mariners came home with three conference wins after a trying weekend. Even though exhaustion, injuries, and illness plagued the ball club, the M’s battled back to capture the big wins when it counted.

The Mission Valley Mariners grabbed the win with an 11-3 victory against the A Missoula Mavs in the rain-out makeup game Monday, July 1. The Mariners started out strong, scoring five runs in the first three innings.

Alex Killian played perfect at the plate with a 3-3 day with two RBI’s.

Zeke Webster-Yaqui stood strong on the mound logging 13 strikeouts, five walks and only two earned runs against the opposing Mavs. Webster-Yaqui also had a 3-5 game at the dish with a triple.

Then on Tuesday, in the searing 100-degree heat, the Mariners stole a couple from the Bitterroot Red Sox.

Game one worked out at the dish for the Mariners with eight hits on the board with a 7-2 win.

Quinn Harlan led the team with two RBI’s and a double of his own. Alex Killian launched a long home run over the left center wall in the sixth.

Kellen Hoyt showed poise on the bump fanning seven while only allowing one walk  and one earned run.

Game 2 was a heated battle resulting in an 8-7 win for the Mariners. As the sun beat down, Mother Nature also decided to throw hail and much welcomed rain down on the boys.

Bradley Pichler got the win on the mound, going the distance with five strikeouts and two walks.

The Mariners worked hard, scoring in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but the Red Sox answered back with a four-run fifth inning to tie it up. TJ Olson went 2-4 and batted in two runs.

After a sixth inning RBI by Jeremiah Crawford, Pichler struck out the side in the seventh to seal the win.
