BIG ARM — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle wreck near mile marker 74, just north of Big Arm on July 9 about 7:30 p.m.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Thoreson, a northbound car drifted into the southbound lane and crashed into a vehicle with a driver and a passenger.
Helen Gryde, 71, was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Wayne Gryde, 74, was sent to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Polson but died on the way.
The northbound vehicle was driven by a juvenile, who got out of his car on his own steam but was also transported to Providence St. Joseph’s.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing, Trooper Thoreson said, but said law enforcement doesn’t believe road conditions, speed, alcohol or drugs, or a cell phone were involved.
