Mission Valley Mariners were on fire, taking four conference wins this week. The M’s got things started right away, picking up two from the A Glacier Twins while knocking the Twins out of the top spot in conference.
Tuesdays’s double header against the Twins ended in a fist-pumping fashion as the M’s won game one with a score of 9-1. The Mariners scored the first run of the game to take the lead in the third and refused to let it go.
The M’s bats were hot, putting up ten hits for the game. Brennan Andrews plated perfect with three singles, going 3-3. Alex Killian led the M’s in RBIs, bringing home two.
Kellen Hoyt earned the win with a stellar performance on the mound. Hoyt threw seven innings and gave up only one walk while striking out seven.
The Twins gave the M’s a run in game two and, after multiple lead changes, the Mariners grabbed the lead in the third and held on for the 7-6 win.
Battling hard, TJ Olson held strong and picked up the win for the Mariners. Olson went the distance on the bump, fanning six and walking three.
Bradley Pichler and Brennan Andrews combined to bring in four runs with two RBIs a piece.
Wednesday brought the Kootenai Valley Rangers to the Mariners’ house for a pair of conference games. The M’s brought the crowd to their feet, scoring 19 runs in 2 games to the Rangers’ 3.
Game one ended in five innings after the Mariners scored 10 runs and allowed none. The M’s exploded with twelve hits on the board with three doubles and one triple.
Chris Drebes was a force to be reckoned with, throwing a complete shutout game. Drebes gave up only two hits, walked one and struck out one.
Jeremiah Crawford went 2-3 with two RBI’s. Zeke Webster-Yaqui showed patience and quick hands as he went 2-2 with an RBI and two walks. Alex Killian also had a great day at the dish with a triple in the sixth.
The M’s kept the runs coming in game two, picking up the 9-3 win. They brought in all nine runs in the first three innings.
Killian kept his fire lit with a double, leading the Mariners with two RBI’s. Keith Woodward saw first base three times going 2-3 with a walk.
Bradley Pichler commanded the mound going all seven innings. Pichler struck out three and allowed only one walk and one earned run.
This week’s wins put the M’s in first place in conference play with a 13-3 record. Conference place will determine seeding in the District Tournament.
