The Charlo Lady Vikings volleyball team continues to play well, downing Noxon 3-1 on the road, followed by a clean sweep against St. Regis at home last week in a pair of 10-C match-ups.
Against Noxon, Rachel Hoyt led the Lady Vikings as she picked up 13 kills, 16 digs and nine aces. Deondra Brown added 13 kills, while Derika Stipe finished with 12 assists. The Lady Vikings won 3-1, with game scores of 25-17, 23-23, 25-16, and 25-18.
“Noxon received our serves better, but we gave them too many points on missed serves,” Kain said. “We lost some of our focus in the second game. They are playing well and we were a little out of sync.”
Against St. Regis, the Lady Vikings were led by Deondra Brown, who finished the game with nine kills in the 25-13, 25-9, 25-12 victory. Kinley Pope, Dawn Blevins and Hoyt each had nine digs. Also playing well for Charlo was Stipe, who had six aces and two blocks.
“St. Regis played better, so we had to be ready,” head coach Sheryl Kain said. “They were hitting the ball more, as you can see by the number of digs we had.”
Kain says her team has a long way to go if they plan on making a run in the post-season.
“I think we’re going to have to pick it up these next three weeks before districts if we plan on going anywhere in the post-season,” Kain said. “We still have a lot to work on, and our games will all be touch from here on out.”
Charlo continues game play Friday on the road against Seeley, before competing in the Arlee Tournament Saturday.
