POLSON — Lake County is sponsoring an aquatic invasive plant identification training on July 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Boettcher Park Pavilion in Polson. The Lake County training session is being funded with a grant from DNRC.

Erik Hanson from Hanson Environmental will lead the training session which will focus on identifying the most commonly found invasive plant species in the region, and learning to tell the difference between invasive aquatic plants and the similar, but benign, native aquatic plant species.

This training session will be useful for those working in the field, as well as volunteers and other stakeholders interested in protecting our waters. One of the most critical factors in determining whether aquatic invasive plants can be controlled, and even eradicated, is early detection. Knowing your aquatic plant species can enhance our efforts in the basin to protect our waters from aquatic invasive species.

Those interested in attending or in obtaining more information, please call 240-3453 or email cmiske@mt.gov.
