News from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Division of Fire

The three fires ignited on the Flathead Reservation — Rattlesnake, Gunbarrel and Arlee Pines — are now in patrol status, according to Curt Matt, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Davison of Fire.

The fires will be monitored daily by engine crews from the CSKT Division of Fire for undetected hot spots.

The Gunbarrel fire was declared out on Saturday, July 20, and the other two fires are expected to attain the same status in the next couple of days.

Unseasonable weather conditions have placed the Ronan firefighters on high alert, with predicted temperatures in the mid- 90s for the next five days with no precipitation.

The general public is cautioned to take special care when camping or recreating.

“Do not leave campfires unattended,” Matt stressed.
