Lake County Fair underway, Pioneer Days joins up this weekend

RONAN — The Lake County Fair is underway with 4-H participants showing animals and anticipating Thursday’s market sale, which begins at 7 p.m. A buyer’s recognition dinner precedes the sale at 5:30 p.m.

Showmanship and judging continues through Sunday. On Wednesday, Swine take the stage at 9 a.m. with beef showmanship at 5 p.m. Also at 5 p.m., Lions Club games hit the lawn alongside a 4-H family dinner with music by the Little Big Band. The cat show sneaks in on little feet at 3 p.m. Market beef judging rounds out the night at 7 p.m.

Thursday starts with sheep at 9 a.m., goats at 12:30 p.m., diary at 2 p.m. and the popular small fry stock show at 5:30 p.m. 

A fashion show of sewn and hand-crafted clothing takes stage in the community center at 4 p.m.

On Friday, rabbits pop up at 11:30 a.m. followed by poultry at 3:30 p.m. Participants in the 4-H open class talent show will perform from 5 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the Pioneer Days Rodeo and 4-H Ambassadors’ Dance.

The 4-H and open class dog rally and agility competition open Saturday’s events at 9 a.m. and at 9:30, the large animal round robin is in the arena. Small fries will want to sign up for the Kiddie Rodeo before it begins at noon, followed by the small animal round robin. Music by John Dunnigan will play from 4 p.m. until the next rodeo begins at 7:30.

The Pioneer Days parade heads down Main Street in Ronan at 12:30 p.m. The final rodeo wraps things up at 3 p.m.
