I would like to introduce myself. My name is Heather Knutson, and I am running for mayor of Polson because I believe in a positive future for our community. This is the town I was born and raised in, and I believe I can effectively connect both our past and our future. My responsibility is to the citizens of Polson, and my leadership and decision making would be driven by this duty.
Make no mistake, the job of our elected officials is a difficult one. It is to balance the needs of 4,500 unique and diverse individuals who live in the city of Polson; to be fiscally responsible to those who contribute to the operations and projects; to work collaboratively with other governmental agencies, citizens and local businesses; and to lead our city to a better future. I believe I can fulfill those tasks in a positive and productive manner.
As mayor of Polson, I would strive for increased citizen input, transparency in city issues, and follow-through on Commission decisions. I would hope to explore the use of new tools and technology to help generate and garner participation. I would also utilize many of these same tools to provide information to Polson citizens on the city issues and direction, so people are more informed on what is happening and more inclined to provide input. And finally, I would align the same values and structure as I use as General Manager of a 20-person operation to ensure project follow-through on Commission decisions and direction.
