POLSON — It wasn’t an ordinary trip to the Polson Liquor Store on Aug. 5. Duane Lux, 68, Polson, pulled into the business’s parking lot and then allegedly crashed into the concrete building.
According to Polson Chief of Police Wade Nash, the collision caused extensive damage to the Lux’s 2003 full-sized Chevy pickup but not much to the building.
Lux pulled onto Second Street E. and drove north towards Flathead Lake and allegedly hit a car. Then he proceeded to U.S. Highway 93, heading south, and allegedly struck another vehicle before three law enforcement officers arrested the man and took him to the Lake County Detention Center.
Lux was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, open container and leaving the scene of an accident.
Ordinarily the case would have come under the jurisdiction of Polson City Judge A. Doug Olson, but because Judge Olson’s pickup was the second vehicle the driver hit, the case was switched to Justice Court, where Lux will appear on Aug. 16.
