RONAN — The Ronan Police Department is investigating an altercation that resulted in a stabbing behind the Gardner Apartments on Main Street in Ronan on Saturday night.

John Allen, 18, of Ronan was involved in the altercation with suspect Jon Lozeau, 22, also of Ronan that ended with a knife wound to Allen’s chest.

Police suspect the stabbing was in retaliation to a previous incident involving the two acquaintances.

Police responded to the call at approximately 11:23 p.m. at 312  Buchannan Street. Upon law enforcement’s arrival, Allen had already left for St. Luke Community Hospital for treatment. The wound on the right side of his chest punctured fatty tissue, but didn’t harm any vital organs, Assistant Chief of Police Art Walgren said.

Allen was released from the hospital shortly after.

Upon investigation, Lake County Sheriff Deputies, the Ronan Police and Confederated and Kootenai Tribal Police located Lozeau in the Pache Housing Development outside Ronan. Lozeau was arrested and booked in the Lake County Detention Center and charged with felony aggravated assault with a weapon.

Walgren explained that both the victim and suspect have had previous offenses and “are quite well known” with law enforcement officials.

People with information or questions regarding the incident should contact the Ronan Police Department.
