VICTOR — The Arlee Warriors wasted no time getting back on the playoff track in Victor Saturday.

After having to think about two straight losses during the bye week, the Warriors were ready to get after the Pirates at the opening whistle. Zach Tameler scored on a 14-yard run just 41 seconds into the game and the Warriors put 30 points up on the board in the first quarter en route to a 60-20 much-needed Western C blowout.

“We got that W we were kind of looking for,” Arlee coach Scott Palmer said. “Going into the bye week getting healed up was our first priority and our second priority was getting them prepared for the game. You could definitely tell they were ready to go when they stepped on the field.”

With everybody healthy, the Warriors were finally able to use all their running backs and they ran wild over the Pirates. They rushed for 269 yards on 35 carries, averaging 7.7 yards a carry. Cole Rice led the Warriors’ rushing attack, finishing with 64 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns. Rice scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter to give the Warriors a 16-0 lead and a 6-yard run in the third quarter. Warrior fullback Damon Cordier rushed for 59 yards and punched it into the end zone from the 1. Arlee quarterback Dylan Moran rushed for 57 yards and scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter to make it 24-0. Tameler only carried the ball four times, but rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns. After the 14-yard TD run to start the game, Tameler also rumbled for a 30-yard score and ended the Warriors’ 30-point first quarter by returning a punt 54 yards. Zack Carver rushed for 26 yards with all 26 yards coming on a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

“We finally got back our depth and were able to rotate the backs and keep fresh legs in the game to close it out,” Palmer said.

A healthy offensive line made it easy for Arlee’s plethora of running backs.

“The offensive line really controlled the line of scrimmage. The backs weren’t getting any contact until 5 yards down the field,” Palmer said.

With the victory, the Warriors improve to 2-2 and are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Warriors will host Noxon Friday for homecoming.
