News from SAFE Harbor

RONAN — SAFE Harbor’s Annual Art Auction and Celebration is just around the corner on Oct. 12 at the Ronan Community Center. The event is a time for community partners from across the region to share their creations, talents and services to help raise awareness and financial support. At the gala, both a live and silent auction take place with original artwork, jewelry, quilts, pottery, carving, sculptures and photography. Special baskets are also auctioned that include lodging, movie passes, theater tickets, concert tickets, travel, dishware, dinner coupons, service vouchers and a variety of other house wares.

For 20 years, SAFE Harbor has served Northwest Montana, providing shelter, safety, nurturing, and healing to the survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and others in need. It operates the only domestic violence shelter between Missoula and Kalispell, serving all of Lake County and the Flathead Reservation. The organization offers advocacy, counseling, financial support, group therapy, legal assistance, education, outreach, transportation, crisis intervention, a 24-hour a day hotline, household assistance, training, transitional housing and resource referrals. In the last year, the group provided assistance to over 500 clients, with more than 4,600 shelter nights, 1,600 crisis line calls, more than 50 financial assistance packages and nearly 500 transportation support services. As previously announced, SAFE Harbor has taken over the programming previously available from the Domestic Violence Education Services (DOVES).

If you or someone you know has something to share please contact us at (406) 240-0640 or at safeharbor@ronan.net. The staff, the board of directors and the clients of SAFE Harbor truly appreciate all the community support in making this annual event a continued success.
