POLSON — Polson Police officer Cory Anderson was placed on administrative leave after an alleged assault at Swanee’s Bar and Grill on Aug. 25.

Law enforcement responded to an assault call at approximately 11:15 p.m. Anderson was not on duty and was not arrested

Polson Police Chief Wade Nash asked Missoula County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the case since Anderson formerly was a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

The Polson Police Department will conduct its own internal review. Chief Nash said being placed on administrative leave during investigations is standard and required by state law.

This is not Anderson’s first brush with the law.

The Public Safety Officer Standards and Training Council have disciplined him for an alcohol-related domestic abuse and intimidating a witness in a poaching investigation that implicated several Lake County law enforcement officers, including Nash.

POST ordered Anderson to undergo ethics training and a chemical dependency evaluation.

Results of the Missoula County investigation will be forwarded to the Lake County Attorney and also the Montana Attorney General.
