Madplume, Jr. pleads not guilty
POLSON — Melvin Madplume, Jr., 29, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide, a felony; and not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent, a felony, in Lake County District Court Thursday, before Judge Deborah Kim Christopher.
Madplume was accused of the rape and murder of his cousin, Laurence Kenmille, 28, at Wild Horse Hot Springs in Hot Springs on May 28.
In addition, Madplume requested a judge other than Christopher, and was willing to delay his case until a judge was appointed to replace C.B. McNeil’s vacancy.
Madplume and his attorneys also filed a motion to restrain counsel and other parties from making statements to the media.
