Two good men are candidates for the legislature from House District 12: Republican Dan Salomon and Democrat John Fleming. How does one choose for whom to vote?
We know that Fleming voted in the last legislature for the largest budget in state history and for the flawed medical marijuana bill that has legalized pot for 23,000 users. He has a rating of “D” from the Montana Shooting Sports Association. Salomon is a fiscal conservative, favors more strictly controlled medical marijuana use and has a “B” rating from the MSSA.
Both candidates have been asked by the independent, non-partisan, voter education group Project Vote Smart to take the Political Courage Test that reveals their position on many major issues. Salomon has taken the test and the results are available to the public. Fleming has refused to take the test. Why won’t he reveal his position on the issues for the public to review?
We deserve a legislator like Dan Salomon who openly reveals his stand on the issues to the voters and will spend our tax dollars responsibly.
