POLSON —Instead of dogs frisking, sniffing and jumping in the river at Travis Dolphin Dog Park on Sunday afternoon, a crew of Boy Scout rakers and shovelers were busy building paths.
Clay Frissell, Dylan McCrumb and Jake Raymond, all members of Scout Troop No. 1947, were completing work on the path Frissell designed for his Eagle Scout project. The group also installed some non-working fire hydrants for the dogs.
Brett McCrumb from McCrumb Construction brought a Bobcat and Sam Jacobsen came with an excavator to do the heavy lifting and digging for the Scouts. Besides McCrumb and Jacobsen, Frissell thanked the City of Polson for gravel and transporting the gravel, Treasure State Concrete for also donating gravel and Mike Roberts for donating the geo textile fabric. The fabric goes over the path before the final gravel is added to stabilizie the fill and block weeds according to Chris Frissell, Clay’s father.
Clay also credited Brett McCrumb for helping him figure the grades and levels and explained that the physical work took three days.
Scout Leader Doug Crosby said Frissell had raised about $500 for the project but needed additional funds for gravel. Crosby added the Scouts were trying to complete the paths before the Doggy Dash event scheduled for Sept. 11 at the dog park.
