SEELEY LAKE — The Vikings’ season couldn’t have gotten off to a better start.

The Charlo Vikings scored 41 first-quarter points en route to a 60-0 blanking of the Blackhawks in Seeley Lake Friday.

The Vikings scored in every which way; safeties,  punt returns, kickoff returns and interception returns.

Tra Ludeman scored three of his four touchdowns in the first quarter. He ran the ball in from the 5 and the 13 and also returned a punt 70 yards. He added a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter. Ludeman scored on half of his carries. He rushed six times for 33 yards.

After Joel Lewis sacked the Seeley-Swan quarterback for a safety, Austin Bauer returned the free kick 50 yards for a touchdown. He also returned an interception for a TD and had a 44-yard TD run. The Vikings had three interceptions in the game. Bauer was the Vikings’ leading rusher finishing with 41 yards on two carries.

Chico Stipe only had two carries, but both went for TDs. He had an 11-yard touchdown run and a 23-yard run.

What did Viking coach Mike Krahn learn about his team in their first game?

“Our speed is really tough to match up with. When you have one kid that is really fast it’s hard to match up with, but we have three or four,” Krahn said. “It doesn’t only show up on offense, it shows up everywhere. We have a legitimate threat to break a big one on every play on special teams and our defense can really cover the field. They tried to spread us out and that just played to our advantage.”

The Vikings will play the Chiefs’ junior varsity team in Ronan at 7 p.m. Saturday.
