SEELEY LAKE — The Charlo Lady Vikings didn’t have to wait long to exact some revenge against the Lady Trojans.

Just days after losing to them during the semifinals of the Drummond tournament, the Lady Vikings were back down in Drummond, but Tuesday things turned out better for Charlo.

The Lady Vikings took care of the Lady Trojans in four sets, winning 25-21, 25-27, 25-23, 25-23. Charlo coach Sheryl Kain said a lot of things were different Tuesday, games went to 25 not 15, Kinley Pope was back in the lineup, but most importantly they just played better.

An aggressive Rachel Hoyt controlled the net for the Lady Vikings finishing with the team high in kills and blocks. Hoyt had 16 of their 45 kills and seven of their 12 blocks.

Pope led the Lady Vikings’ defense finishing with 20 of their 84 digs in the match. Dawn Blevins had 41 assists.

Kain said the key to the match was after blowing a late lead in the second game, the Lady Vikings were able to stay focused and end the match with a pair of 2-point victories.

“They didn’t get down on themselves like some teams do. Volleyball is such a mental game and takes a lot focus. If you lose a close one like that some times you can’t recover,” Kain said.

The Lady Vikings finished the week by beating the other District 13-C team that advanced to the past year’s divisional tournament. Although they swept Seeley-Swan Thursday, Kain said her team didn’t look as sharp as they did in Drummond.

The Lady Vikings took care of Seeley-Swan 26-24, 25-10, 25-21. For the second match in a row, Hoyt led the Lady Vikings in kills, finishing with 32. Pope also led the teams in digs again with 15 and Blevins was the assist leader with 30.

The Lady Vikings (3-0) play the Lady Red Devils Thursday and then travel to Philipsburg for a tournament Saturday.
