Robert “Bob” Elwood Schmitz
ST. IGNATIUS – Robert “Bob” Elwood Schmitz, 90, passed away at his home on Aug. 31.
Born in Woodland, Calif., on March 3, 1920 to Robert and Jessie (Ball) Schmitz, he was raised in Woodland and married Mary Ann Feucht on July 14, 1943.
A WWII veteran, he flew 30 missions in Europe as a B-24 top turret gunner. Following the military, Bob owned his own business until he retired in 1982.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and a son, Raymond Schmitz.
Graveside services were held Wednesday in the Missoula
