News from the Beautification Committee of Envision Polson

POLSON — The Beautification Committee of Envision Polson is announcing plans for their 3rd annual community-wide Holiday Decorations Contest. Interested citizens are encouraged to start planning their displays now.

The contest theme is “Celebrate the Season of Light.”

Categories for judging are residence, business, church and neighborhood (three residences constitute a neighborhood entry).

Judges will look for best used of theme, best use of lights, originality and overall appearance. One winner will be named in each category and will be rewarded with a “winner” yard sign.

Boundaries for the contest include Polson’s city limits and have been enlarged to include Highway 35 as far east as Fulkerson’s corner and Rocky Point Road as far north as Baypoint Road.

Nomination forms are available now at the Chamber of Commerce, 418 Main Street in Polson and at Ace Hardware, Sears, First Resort, Jackie M’s Shoes and Hallmark. Forms also may be downloaded from the Chamber’s website www.polsonchamber.com as well as the Greater Polson Community Foundation website www.polsonforever.org

Lighting displays must be completed by Monday, Dec. 9. Nomination forms are due Tuesday, Dec. 10. Judging occurs Wednesday, Dec. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 12. Winners will be notified and results will be announced in local newspapers.

“This is such a wonderful time of year and it is our hope that many residences and businesses in the Polson area will participate in the celebration of the season,” Beautification Committee Chairperson Mary Hoover Jensen said. “It is a magical time of year for everyone in our community.”
