DIXON — There are getting to be signs of a busy season in our part of the world. Christmas is being advertised way too soon - again. Let’s enjoy Thanksgiving first. I appreciate the delay in winter weather (which may not be true by the time you read this). Bazaars and craft shows are starting, along with all the baking supplies. I am looking forward to all the turkey dinners next week. Do you know you could have turkey every day? All the senior centers are gearing up, along with community dinners and all the restaurants and private homes. I hope you will all find a place to be thankful with others.

Diners are always welcome at Dixon Senior Center. We will be enjoying turkey with all the trimmings on Thursday, Nov. 21, at noon. All ages are invited to join us; we even have a high chair. The last meal of the month is Monday, Nov. 25, a spaghetti dinner. Come join with the pinochle players after dinner on Monday. Take-out meals are available. Remember, there will be no meal served on Thursday, Nov. 28.

The Dixon Senior Center hosted a great good-bye to our long-time friends, Don and Joyce Siers, who have moved to the Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. Many people came from surrounding communities and misty-eyes, delicious cake and happy memories were shared. There were four generations of family attending: their daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Some even live near their new home. The couple has been active, loyal members of our center and certainly will be missed. Thanks to all who came to their open house.

We have openings for at least two new members. Come visit and enjoy a meal on Thursdays at noon or Fridays at 5 p.m.

Start remembering all you have to be thankful for, in case someone asks. I have so much to be thankful for. One important person I am grateful for is my sister Sally who comes to visit each year from Connecticut. She will enjoy a big family get together with many relatives this year.
