RONAN — Four people suffered minor injuries when a 1999 gold Dodge Stratus heading southbound on U.S. Highway 93 rear-ended a green Subaru Legacy on Aug. 4 at 11:50 a.m.

Megan Walsh, 23, of Polson stopped the Subaru at a crosswalk for a crossing pedestrian outside Ronan Sports and Western. Authorities at the scene suspect that the driver of the Dodge Stratus, Tonitte Marie Adams, 41, of St. Ignatius did not see the stopped vehicle in front of her and collided with the Subaru.

“There were no skid marks at all,” Ronan Assistant Chief of Police Art Walgren said. “So she just plowed right into them.”

Walgren said that Adams was driving the speed limit at the time of the collision. He also noted that all occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts except Adams.

The two passengers of the Dodge Stratus, Salisha Palmer, 20, of St. Ignatius and a 12-year-old, suffered minor injuries and were transported to St. Luke Community Hospital immediately. Adams and Walsh were also transported to St. Luke. All four occupants were released from the hospital later that day.

The Dodge Stratus, which was recently purchased by Adams, had extensive front-end damage, and the Subaru Legacy had damage to the rear end.

Walgren suspected that the damage to the Dodge Stratus could result in the vehicle being totaled.

Adams was issued two citations by the Ronan Police Department for careless driving and driving with no insurance.

Ronan Police Department, the Montana Highway Patrol, the Ronan Volunteer Fire Department and Ronan and Polson Ambulances responded to the call.

U.S. Highway 93 was cleared of the two vehicles by 12:15 p.m.
