Mary Lou Roddam Bodwell
RONAN — Mary Lou was born to Burton and Ester Waller on Sept. 6, 1932, and joined her sister Ruth at the family home in the piney woods of east Texas. She married the love of her life J.D. Roddam in Lufkin, Texas and together they built a home. They added to their family with a daughter Shannon in 1953 and a son Kelly in 1959. On Dec. 16, 1967, J.D. passed away and her heart was broken. Some years later she met and married Frank Bodwell. Together they had Lizabeth in 1972. Frank passed away in 1985.
Mary Lou passed away on Dec. 8, 2013. Her parents, her spouses J.D. and Frank, her sister Ruth Lena, her daughter Shannon Huckabay and her nephew Danny Lena preceded her in death. Her son Kelly Roddam (Maggie), her daughter Liz Bodwell, her granddaughters Arwen Huckabay (Josh), Rachael Huckabay Udin (Michael), Kaitlin Roddam Kirkland (Nicholas) and her grandson Jon Roddam (Miranda) survive her. She is also survived by her nieces Ester Chandler (Gary) and Margaret McMahan (David) and her “little darlings” great-grandchildren Addison, Jackson and Aubrey Roddam and Khloe Roddam Kirkland.
Mary Lou has been cremated and a family gathering will be held in the summer.
