POLSON — About 15 kids in the Polson After School Program visited the Polson Health and Rehabilitation Center with a box of gingerbread men, icing and decorating items.
Young and old gathered at tables in the dining room to decorate the cookies. Some of the kids have never frosted a cookie and some of the older folks haven’t for a year or two.
Amanda Steele, director of the after school program and her crew try to bring the students to the center once a month. At Thanksgiving they visited and did crafts with some of the patients.
“Lots of times, kids don’t get to be around older people,” she said.
After spreading on a layer or ribbons of icing, cookie decorators used chocolate chips, M&Ms, gumdrops and marshmallows to personalize their cookies or make one for someone else.
