POLSON — Twinkling lights on trees and decks, Santas in airplanes, lighted silhouettes of deer, snowflakes and snowmen are some of the creative ways Polson residents decorate outside during the Christmas season. To honor some of the fantastic displays, the Polson Beautification Committee held its Season of Light contest for homes, neighborhoods and businesses.
Judges Heather Knutson, Joslyn Shackelford, Kathy Shore, Erin Turner and Linda Wold drove around Polson and looked at different houses. It was a tough decision, according to Mary Hoover Jensen, Polson Beautification Committee, but they chose the following winners:
Best neighborhood -
First Place: Woodbine (behind Polson High School)
Second Place: Skyline Drive at Demers Lane (near the Polson Community Church)
Third Place: Mission Bay community
Best residence -
First Place: John and Patricia Kelly, 85 Miriam Way
Second Place: Alice Rautio and Ed Kahm, Space #7, Bell Vue Trailer Park, 50523 Highway 93
Third Place: Jim and Barb Sohm, 100 Pheasant Ridge Court, Mission Bay Preserve
Fourth Place: Arlyn and Karen Amundson, 401 22nd Avenue West
Fifth Place: 106 5th Avenue East
Best business -
First Place: VetCare Montana, #6 Seventh Avenue West, Spring and James McKee
Second Place: Bay View Inn, 50149 Highway 93, Suzanne and John Starner
Third Place:The Terrace Flowers & Gifts, 308 Main Street, Gerry and Joe Browning.
