News from the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana

CHARLO — Tracing your own family history back 100 years is a wonderful thing, but to be able to trace the connection between two families for that period of time is very special, indeed. Bud Cheff, Jr., founder of the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana, is working on a tribute to John Conko that will illustrate the families’ bond and be on display in the museum Jan. 16 . Guests who attend the annual Black Tie Dinner are invited to a complimentary tour of the museum at 6 p.m. and will appreciate this honoring of a gentle man who touched many lives in the Mission Valley and beyond. Dinner at Allentown Restaurant follows at 7 p.m. with guest speaker, Dr. Richard Ellis, talking about “The Value of Oral History.” The evening includes a silent auction and live music with Liz Steele, Richard Tobel and cowboy poet Geno Harper. Net proceeds from this fundraiser will fund the museum’s history project, “Mission Valley History: Our Collective Story.” Tickets to the museum’s fundraiser are $45 each and can be purchased by contacting the museum at (406) 644-3435 or by email: ninepipesmusum@montana.com.
