Editor,

July 24th is fast approaching and much preparation is under way for the Big Arm 100 year celebration. It is going to be a fun day for everyone that shows up in Big Arm between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The day’s fundraising events are being undertaken to raise money to restore the Big Arm School, which will benefit all in Lake County. Once restored it will be used for student and adult history days as well as a meeting place and playground for children.

At the celebration, there will not only be the annual water war between Polson and Big Arm, but also a barbecue, old-time games, vintage car show, and living history talk.

I must confess that many of us in Big Arm celebrated too much after last year’s water war victory. You know to the victor go the spoils so we gained a few pounds from consuming the prize jellybeans. Working off the weight has just made us stronger for this year’s face off.

I have been accused of smack talking which is really unfounded. The fact is that Polson lost last year to the Big Arm juggernaut. The first and only time Polson beat Big Arm in the water wars was in 2008. It was a fluke without a doubt.
