Warriors up and down

ARLEE – The Warriors split the week falling at home and dominating on the road. At home on Friday the Warriors kept it close but came up short, dropping to Superior 42-47. Patrick BigSam top scored the Warriors with 19.

Arlee smashed it’s opponent on Saturday in Hot Springs, taking down the Savage Heat 92-67. BigSam and Josh Reed each netted 21 for the Warriors.

Arlee will host Loyola-Sacred Heart Feb. 1.

Bulldogs take some hits

 

CHARLO – The Bulldogs toughed out the week, dropping two on the road. On Friday, in a heated-up Charlo home game, Mission fell to the Vikings 68-74. Despite the loss, Bulldog Stuart Grant netted an impressive 33 points for Mission. Aaron Fisher-Ahenakew added 17.

At Deer Lodge Saturday, the Bulldogs came close but couldn’t hold it, tumbling to the Wardens 64-69. Jared Brown led his team scoring 27.

Mission will host Florence Jan. 31 and then road trip it to Bigfork Feb. 1.

Pirates drop the ball

 

WHITEFISH — At Whitefish on Friday the Pirates had a one point lead going into the fourth quarter but failed to hold on, allowing the Bulldogs to outscore and overtake the game 45-52. Cedrick Smith led Polson, grabbing 13 for his team.

The Pirates will head to Stevensville Jan. 30 and then return home to host Frenchtown Jan.31.

Chiefs grab split on road

 

FLORENCE – The Chiefs dropped one game but picked back up in their travels over the week. On Thursday the Chiefs battled Florence, falling to the Falcons 37-45. Kollin Wrobleski grabbed 11 for his team while Cedric Earthboy chipped in 10.

On Saturday the Chiefs made the long drive to Eureka to take on the Lions. In the tight game, the Chief’s drove Eureka into OT. Tim Woll tossed in the final shot at the buzzer that pushed his team to the 62-60 victory. Woll added 15 more for a 17-point total. Earthboy led the Chiefs with 18.

The Chiefs will keep their bus wheels turning by staying on the road as they head to Corvallis Jan. 31 and then on to Polson Feb. 3.

Eagles struggle to score 

 

NOXON – The Eagles had a tough week out as they failed to put up enough to secure a win. On Thursday the Eagles fell to the Red Devils in Noxon, 42-66. Julian Cutfinger, the only Eagle putting up double digits, netted 10. 

Saturday the Eagles were rolled over at home with Hot Springs devastating Two Eagle 57-83. Cutfinger once again led with 13 points while Eugene Parker grabbed 11. Eagle Byron Carpentier limped away with an ankle injury in the second but not before netting nine of his own.

The Eagles will head to Victor Jan. 30 and will take on the Vikings in Charlo Jan. 31.

Girls' basketball

Scarlets rip it up

SUPERIOR — The Scarlets are on a roll, tearing through every opponent that dares to share a court. 

At Superior on Friday, the Scarlets took an early lead and held on to grab the 63-40 victory over the Lady Bobcats. Whitney Malatare led her team with 13. Violet Pablo came in right behind with 11.

Saturday the Scarlets took to Hot Spring’s court bringing down the Lady Savage Heat with a dominating 53-16 score. There was no holding back Whitney Malatare as she put on her 20-point show. Alician Camel chipped in 14.

The Scarlets will be home to host Loyola-Scared Heart Feb. 1.

Lady Bulldogs drop two

 

CHARLO – The Lady Bulldogs took a couple of bumps, but not without turning up the heat at Charlo first. On Friday Mission took on Charlo at the Lady Vikings house. With both blue and purple clad fans erupting to their feet in a fit of screams, the Lady Bulldogs dragged Charlo into OT but ran out of steam in the 35-41 contest. Mission’s Courtney Charlo was a big help with 11 points.

Saturday brought the Lady Bulldogs to Deer Lodge with upsetting results for Mission as the Lady Bulldogs fell 12-71. No Lady Bulldog could manage to score more than two points in the beat down.

Mission heads to Florence Jan. 31 and then to Bigfork Feb. 1.

Lady Pirates grab big W

 

WHITEFISH – Nichole Lake’s and Jaylin Kenney’s double digit scores, 13 and 10, helped the Lady Pirates grab their win of the season, tromping all over Whitefish 51-39. Skyla Krantz added another nine.

The Lady Pirates host Stevensville Jan. 30 and then will bus it to Frenchtown Jan. 31.

Maidens take a split

 

RONAN – The Maidens split the pot with a 1-1 week. At home on Friday, the Maidens fell to Florence 36-41. Maiden Raymi Clairmont led with 11 on the game.

Saturday Malia Hamel led the Maidens with 13 points in the take down of the Lady Lions in Eureka 52-40. Aspen Jore added another 9.

The Maidens will host Corvallis Jan. 31.

Lady Eagles pick up win

 

NOXON — The Lady Eagles grabbed a win and came very close to another. Thursday the Lady Eagles snagged a big number, scoring 54 to Noxon’s 39. Cassidi Wunderlich netted a dominating 21 points while Tyra Michel added 18 to help her team.

Saturday the Lady Eagles hosted Hot Springs and kept the Lady Savage Heat on a short leash going into halftime with the tie. Hot Springs broke away and edged out the Lady Eagles with a final score of 40-47. Michel led the Lady Eagles with 13. Wunderlich chipped in 12.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Victor Jan. 30 and then off to Charlo Jan. 31.
