Regarding the recent letter written by Phyllis Benoist of Ronan:

Ms. Benoist, in your recent letter to the readers of the Valley Journal, a misstatement or dubious reference was made by you when you stated the reason for a band of Indian hunters who started what’s now known historically as the Sioux Uprising of 1862. This happening in southern Minnesota triggered by hungry tribesmen stealing some eggs from someone’s chicken coop? Ms. Benoist, I grew up in the very heart of that happening in Minnesota. True that Indian agents involved abused their positions, but please know, that happening, including every detail of the massacre of the innocent settlers by the tribesmen was taught to us kids in our school, and never did the ‘egg stealing’ factor come up in the pages of our history book. So many of us might like to know where your facts (if they are facts) come from?
