John Stanislaw
CAMAS PRAIRIE — John Stanislaw, 79, a member of the Salish and Kootenai Tribe, passed away at his home. He was a true mountain man, born in a huckleberry patch in the mountains near Clarks Fork, Idaho, to Joseph Stanislaw and Annie Paul Curley.
A jack of all trades and fluent speaker of his language, John was an elder who was a cultural resource. He is survived by his sisters Angie Andrew and Harriett McDougall, both of Camas Prairie, Rose O’Bennick of Hot Springs and Hazel Barnaby of Dixon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
