Editor,
The Bread Basket Board would like to thank the Rural Post Office carriers for the Ronan, Pablo, Charlo and Moiese area for bringing in 692 pounds of food last month. A big thank you goes to the families for their generosity in sharing their groceries. Our needy families will benefit greatly from this food.
SKC had a service day recently and 16 volunteers came out to the Bread Basket. They donated their time to clean the yard and paint the front window siding. We really appreciated this volunteer help that the college gives throughout the county. What a great service to our community.
Once again summer is coming with our fundraising drive in June and July. The generosity of our community is very humbling. Your faithful support, even when times are tough, has enables us to keep food available for your neighbors in need. No one in this great country should go hungry and fortunately, we know form experience that the members of our community each do their part to make sure their neighbors have food. Thank you so much for caring.
Unfortunately, it also takes money to keep not only the food coming but to provide the place where food is kept. Once again, we come knocking.
The Bread Basket is currently serving 140 families a month and the number rises when jobs are in short supply or the pay is minimum. Thanks to you, the members of the community, we are still able to give out 3-4 days worth of food per month to help stretch meals for these struggling families.
