Patricia Stromstead Vigen

RONAN — Patricia (Patsy) A. Stromstead Vigen, 76, is at peace in heaven. Mom passed away peacefully on March 2 at home in Ronan. She was born in Spokane, Wash. to Anne and Aton Stromstead on Jan. 11, 1938. Anne and Aton eventually settled in Missoula and were proprietors of Stockman’s Bar. Latter they settled in Pablo and opened the Pablo Bar. Along with being the apple of her daddy’s eye (Aton), mom was a magnet for lifelong friends from high school and beyond that shared many happy times.

After graduating from high school she married Sherwood C. Vigen on July 15, 1956. Sherwood and Patsy located to Queen Anne, Wash. for a short time. Before long they returned to Ronan to raise four girls and eventually take over the family farm in Round Butte. Patsy was passionate about community and youth, from the Lake County 4-H Club sheep herdsman to preservation of the historical Round Butte School.

Mom was loved and well known for her warm and welcoming customer service and the impact she had on her co-workers working for her dad at the Pablo Bar, Moody’s Market, Coast to Coast Hardware, R&R, and finally retiring from Ronan State Bank.

Mom’s mother and father and her sister Gloria Robinson precede her in death.

God Saw You

God saw you were getting tired,

And a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around you,

And whispered, “Come to me”,

With tearful eyes we watched you,

And saw you pass away

Although we loved you dearly,

We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands to rest.

Good broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

Never forgotten…

…forever missed.

A special thanks goes to Aunt Shirl for being such a good friend through all these years.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan.
