MISSION VALLEY — As the first little ripples of spring bring in a new season of high school sports, it’s that time of year to wrap up winter and honor the kids that gave it their all and showed both poise and excellence on the court. Several boys and girls from valley  basketball teams were given the honors of All-Conference with three taking it a step further grabbing All-State honors.

Arlee’s Josh Reed and Whitney Malatare, both seniors, will end their high school basketball careers on a high note earning All-State honors. Both showed great leadership among their peers both on and off the court throughout the season, plus proved to be a force by racking up points for the Warriors and Scarlets. Mission senior Stuart Grant also snagged an All-State after leading his Bulldogs into a postseason spot and coming away with a few points of his own.

First team class 6B All-Conference honorees included Bulldog Stuart Grant and Ronan senior Tim Woll. Maiden senior Raymi Clairmont grabbed 6B first team honors for the girls. 14-C winners include Josh Reed along with Viking senior Kale Pope. Whitney Malatare also made first team with Scarlet teammate freshman Alicia Camel along with senior Jordan Ludeman from Charlo.

Second team Northwest A includes Polson seniors Cedrick Smith and Andrew Weltz. 6B awards went to Ronan junior Cedric Earthboy, Mission senior Jared Brown, and Maiden junior Aspen Jore. 14-C second team includes Viking senior Tristan Santee and Warrior sophomore Patrick BigSam as well as Two Eagle River sophomore Cassidi Wunderlich, Charlo senior Aspen Runkel, and Scarlet junior Violet Pablo.

Honorable Mentions – Lady Pirates junior Skyla Krantz and sophomore Nichole Lake, Mission junior Aaron Fisher-Ahenakew and senior Courtney Charlo, Eagle senior DeShane Hewankorn, Viking senior Tyler Delaney, and Arlee senior Alexis Shick.

Congratulations also goes to Scarlets coach Bill Stockton for receiving “Coach of the Year.”
