Editor,

To end gridlock in Congress, Senate leader Harry Reid should be replaced. In 2013 the Republican-controlled House of Representatives passed nearly 150 bills, with more than 40 dedicated to putting people back to work and improving our economy. Of the 40 there are 19 bills stuck in the Senate that would empower small business owners by removing burdensome regulations preventing job creation and hindering economic growth. There are nine that would fix the tax code to help job creators, increase competitiveness for U.S. manufacturers and encourage entrepreneurship and growth, and 10 would maximize domestic energy production.

There are three that would pay down America’s unsustainable debt. Nearly a dozen were bipartisan bills to tackle critical issues of jobs, protections against cyber attack, patent reform, funding for pediatric research and streamlining regulations for pipelines. Harry Reid refused to bring them to the senate for action.

The 2,700 page Obamacare law was crafted totally behind closed doors by then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Reid and the Obama Administration, with no Republican input. Now many from Reid’s own Democrat caucus want to overhaul the disastrous parts of the healthcare law, and Harry Reid refuses to bring it to the floor for any consideration. In our government “of the people” how can we let the ill-chosen leader of a party paralyze the progress of government?

End Harry Reid’s “Blame Game” and iron-clad control of the Senate. Help the Republicans gain control of the senate to rein in out-of-control spending, pass legislation to help our work force grow, and provide for all of our people the best health care in the world. Send Republican Congressman Steve Daines as a senator from Montana. Your vote is important.
