Editor,

Mary Milheim’s letter, “Replace Harry Reid,” is right on. In my opinion, Harry Reid is “Mr. Do Nothing,” and is not qualified to be a United States Senator—certainly not the leader of that body.

However, Mr. Reid does what he does (or doesn’t do) because he is allowed to. Replacing him will not solve the problem. Any Senate leader can be a tyrant and ignore legislation passed by the House.

The solution would be to require that all bills passed by either house of Congress shall, within 60 days, be debated and voted on by the other. No amendments will be allowed that do not pertain to the subject or purpose of each bill.

Suggestions, anyone?
