Corvallis abuzz with valley track and field teams

CORVALLIS – On Saturday track teams from Polson, Ronan, Arlee, and Mission made the journey to Corvallis to compete. The Lady Pirates and the Maidens recorded the most top finishers with Polson taking third and Ronan ending in the fourth spot out of 13 teams. Lady Pirate Chloie Huerta was the lone star in the first place club throwing 35-8 in shot put Huerta also placed third in the discus event. Polson’s Lady Pirates came in second in the 400m relay and right behind in fourth were the Maidens. Ronan’s Aspen Jore placed second in both the javelin and shot put while Polson’s Amanda Harrod also grabbed a second place in shot put. Third place finishers include Lady Pirates Tiara Duford (200) and Claudia Hewston (PV), Maiden Alex Dennis (100h), and Scarlet Jessica Knoll placed third in both the 400m and 800m races. The Scarlets also grabbed a third place finish in the 1600 relay.

For the boys Polson and Ronan came out close to the top with a sixth place team finish for the Pirates and seventh for the Chiefs. Pirate Jacob Clairmont jumped 20 feet for a first place finish in the long jump. Pirate Lucas Gerhardt took first with a 46’ 10.5” shot put throw and also anchored a third place in javelin. Ronan Chief Connor Benn placed second in pole vault and Pirate Joe Gallatin took second in discus. Rounding out the top three places are Pirate Tel Motichka (800) and Chief Cole Gerhardt (SP).

Ronan, Mission, and Arlee will compete in Bigfork April 12 while Polson will host a meet at home, also on  April 12.
