POLSON – With Mother Nature forgetting spring sports, she let the wind howl and sent a mixture of snow, rain and hail Saturday, impeding Polson’s planned Triangular track and field meet.

Anaconda and Butte Central made the long trek to Polson High School’s sports complex, where events were squeezed in between weather breaks, resulting in a few wins for the Pirates and Lady Pirates.

The Lady Pirates took the top spot in several events, grabbing all top four spots in the 200 and 400 meter races, plus top three in discus. Lady Pirate Chloie Huerta grabbed two first place finishes in shot put and discus. Mariah Corrigan took first in javelin, second in discus and fourth in shot put. Tiara Duford came away with a first in the 200m and third in 100m. Lydia Bowman snagged first in the 400m and second in 100m and Claudia Hewston snagged a first place spot in the 800m. Lady Pirates also took first in the 400m relay. Second place finishers include Keliegh Borchers (200m), Madison Wheeler (400m, 100m hurdles), Erin Sampson (shot put), and Chadelle Smith (long jump). Coming in third were Aunika Corrigan (200m) and Gracie Carlyle (400m, LJ), and fourth placers include Chadelle Smith (100m), Stormie Cenicola (200m, 100mh) and Hannah Kasnitz (400m).

For the boys, Tel Motichka was the only Pirate to finish first in individual competition, crossing the finish line ahead of the pack in the 800m. Pirate relay teams grabbed first in both the 400m and 1600m runs. Second place finishers include Frank Pope (100m, 400m), Jonah Kasnitz (200m), Wyatt Benson (1,600m), and Austin Corrigan (SP). Coming in at third were Mathew Rensvold (200m) and Wyatt Benson (800m), and fourth place went to Kasnitz (400m) and Corrigan (discus).

Due to the cancellation of several events, no team scores were recorded. Polson will compete in Missoula April 19.
