News from the Lake County Commissioners

POLSON — Lake County Commissioners wrote Kimberly Bose, Secretary of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, requesting an additional 30-day comment period for Kerr Dam Hydroelectric Project.

In the April 3 letter, LCC Chair Bill Barron said, “Lake County, Flathead County nor any of our local media were notified of the Feb. 3 to March 3 comment period. We assumed the comment period for the above referenced project would take place in conjunction with those of the other dams being sold by PPL.”

The commissioners also requested that FERC hold two public meetings in Lake and Flathead Counties

“The project is of great interest to the citizens of our valley, and we believe their comments deserve to be heard,” Barron said in the letter.

As of press time, the commissioners had not heard from FERC.
